On 11th September 2010 at 0830 the walkers will set out on this years
kristian alexander charity award scheme
"CHALLENGE WALK 2010"
run and organised by Roger and Nina Hanger
Roger and Nina have organised and taken part in many walking events over the years.
Again this year one of the charities benefiting will be Stella Hayward RDA.
Here is a report of last year's highly successful event in which nearly 100 people took part.
The day started clear, bright and relatively cool. The start was at West Fleet Farm Holiday Park, Moonfleet, Chickerell. The 25 mile route started north through Buckland Ripers,
Corton and towards Upwey.
Then uphill to meet the South West Coastal Path, turning westward towards Hardye’s Monument
and lunch from about 1200.

By this time the temperature was getting hot, so thankfully the next leg was along flat terrain and then downhill into Abbotsbury and the cooler coast.

With approximately two-thirds of the route complete the anticipation of the finish line, wonderful sea views and the promise of a hot meal – spurred the walkers on to one further effort.

The final few crossed the finishing line at about 1730, each receiving a congratulatory certificate from
Roger Hanger.

Sweat and aching feet, followed by conversation, beer and hot food, completed a most successful and enjoyable day.

Two Trustees and a few friends of our Group, acted as Marshallers on the day. We were all impressed by the determination and good humour of the walkers. We spoke to many walkers who were also full of praise for the organisation, efficiency and friendliness of this event.
As a Group, we wish to say a
BIG THANK YOU
to the organisers, the helpers and of course all the walkers for their help,
interest and support for our activities.
